On September 20, 2024, the 13th International Mine Rescue Competition concluded in Boyacá, Colombia, with 21 teams from 7 countries competing. Demonstrating remarkable composure and determination, China's SDE National Mine Rescue Team achieved an outstanding first-place finish in the equipment technician category, successfully claiming the gold medal.
This is the fifth time that China has won the equipment technician category in this competition. It is worth noting that the rules for this year's competition underwent significant changes. In addition to the traditional breathing apparatus operation, the equipment technician category introduced a theoretical exam and added maintenance tasks for gas detectors and portable automatic resuscitators, greatly increasing the difficulty. SDE National Mine Rescue Team of China once again won the title, showcasing the comprehensive technical capabilities of its mine rescue teams.
The International Mine Rescue Competition is a prestigious event that showcases the technical expertise of mine rescue teams worldwide and promotes international communication. Since its inception in 1999 in Kentucky, the United States, the competition has been held biennially, with this being the 13th edition.
