To carry out relevant measures of the Belt and Road International Cooperation Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Management and jointly improve the standard of safe operation of oil and gas pipeline infrastructures in "Belt and Road" countries, China-Central Asia Joint Training Exercises for Oil and Gas Pipeline Emergency Rescue and Response started in National Oil and Gas Pipeline Emergency Rescue Urumqi Brigade on May 30, 2024.

Professional rescue teams from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and two oil and gas pipeline emergency rescue teams (Team Urumqi and Langfang from State Oil and Gas Pipeline Emergency Rescue) and the Emergency Repair and Maintenance Team from National Pipeline Network Group from China participated in the training exercises.

Themed "Oil and Gas Pipeline Emergency Rescue and Response", the training program has combined the actual running conditions of crude oil pipelines and natural gas pipelines in China and Central Asia, setting up five practical training subjects of oil and gas pipeline emergency response, including crude oil pipelines, natural gas pipelines, in-station process pipelines, in-tunnel pipelines and mountain pipelines. Carefully selected experts and excellent engineers in the field of oil and gas pipeline emergency rescue would share valuable experiences and achievements with rescuers of the five Central Asian countries.

Upon working together actively, they would like to enhance mutual understanding, deepen exchanges and cooperation, improve emergency management capacity, jointly contribute to the regional development, and build a more solid energy-secured defense line.

The training will be followed by a reporting drill for oil and gas pipeline emergency response. The training program was sponsored by the Department of International Cooperation and Rescue of MEM, co-organized by the Information Research Institute of MEM and the Department of Emergency Management of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, supported by the National Oil and Gas Pipeline Emergency Rescue Urumqi Brigade and the National Oil and Gas Pipeline Emergency Rescue Langfang Brigade, guided by National Work Safety Emergency Rescue Center, National Petroleum and Natural Gas Pipeline Network Group and China National Petroleum Corporation.
