The First Exchange and Training Workshop on Safety Risk Prevention for Five Central Asian Countries held

To actively integrate into the "Belt and Road Initiative", the First Exchange and Training Workshop on Safety Risk Prevention for Five Central Asian Countries was held in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China on April 25, 2024. A total of 39 trainees from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan participated in the training. 

The five-day exchange and training workshop will be focused on the themes of work safety and fire rescue, in the form of classroom learning, discussion and exchange, observation and practice, site visit and inspection. Experts and scholars will be invited to exchange views not only on mechanism of emergency management system and construction of the rule of law, systematic risk management of work safety, but also on achievements and experiences achieved in the fields of work safety and fire rescue. Trainees will have chances to carry out inspection and practice via visiting the complex wok safety base in Xinjiang and related enterprises. 

"Linked by mountains and rivers, China and Central Asian countries have a history of friendly exchanges spanning thousands of years. Together, we have written a magnificent story of the ancient Silk Road connecting the east and west." Liu Shunzhang, deputy director-general of the Department of the International Cooperation and Rescue, Ministry of Emergency Management of China, said that the Xi'an Declaration of the China-Central Asia Summit shows the determination of the six countries to join hands to build an even closer China-Central Asia community of common destiny, and all parties are willing to strengthen cooperation between emergency management departments and deepen exchanges and cooperation in disaster prevention and reduction, work safety, emergency rescue and earthquake science and technology. 

We hope that through this exchange and training workshop, we can strengthen mutual communications, cooperation and progress, share knowledge and experience, actively explore the mode and method to promote the development of emergency management, jointly writing an even better future for China's relations with five Central Asian countries. 

"It is the common expectation of China and Central Asian countries to improve our ability to prevent and resolve safety risks, protect people's lives and property, and ensure high-quality development with high level of safety." Gu Wei, Director-general of the Department of Emergency Management of Xinjiang, said that the exchange and training workshop will further broaden the platform for cooperation and exchange with the five Central Asian countries, promote the common development of emergency management, and inject new impetus for China and the five Central Asian countries to give play to their complementary advantages and unlock cooperation potential. 

Li Huan, head of Xinjiang Fire and Rescue Corps, said that the exchange and training workshop is a further implementation of the Xi'an Declaration of China-Central Asia Summit, and will definitely lay a good foundation for building a more extensive cooperation and exchange platform between countries in the future. 

Trainees of the workshop expressed their appreciation and support for China's establishment of the cooperation mechanism, and expressed their willingness to strengthen practical cooperation in disaster prevention, reduction and relief, work safety and emergency rescue through active participation in joint construction, so as to jointly improve emergency management capacity and promote the development of global disaster control. 

Hosted by the Ministry of Emergency Management of China, the Exchange and Training Workshop on Safety Risk Prevention for Five Central Asian Countries was organized by the Department of Emergency Management of Xinjiang and the Xinjiang Fire and Rescue Corps.
