The twenty-third session of the Africa Working Group on Disaster Risk Reduction was held from 11 to 13 November 2025 in Victoria Falls under the theme “Moving from commitments to action: delivering on the Windhoek Declaration and the Africa Common Position to the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction 2025”.
The main objective of the twenty-third session was to discuss strategic priorities and themes, and to agree on the way forward to accelerate the implementation of the Windhoek Declaration on advancing the Programme of Action for the Implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 in Africa, as well as the Africa Common Position to the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction 2025. The meeting also aimed at review progress in implementing recommendations from the twenty-second session of the Working Group.
