On January 5th, the China Harbour Engineering Co., Ltd. (CHEC) Kilwa Masoko Fishing Port Project in Tanzania received a special visitor. The captain of a local ferry, holding a handwritten thank-you letter, firmly grasped the hands of the project's rescue team members and expressed his gratitude repeatedly: "At our most distress moment, it was our Chinese friends who reached out immediately. We will never forget this kindness!" These simple yet sincere words convey the deep trust and appreciation that local residents hold for Chinese enterprises. 

On the morning of December 25, 2025, a sudden maritime emergency occurred near Kilwa Masoko, Tanzania. While on patrol, on-duty crew members of the "Yuegong Barge 48" belonging to the Kilwa Masoko Fishing Port Project suddenly heard urgent cries for help from the sea. Looking in the direction of the sound, they spotted a local ferry carrying 14 passengers and cargo tilting and sinking nearby, putting the lives of those on board at imminent risk. 

An emergency is an order, and time is of the essence. The on-site project manager activated the emergency rescue plan immediately, directing the transport vessel to rush to the scene at full speed. Drawing on their proficient navigation skills and rich emergency response experience, the rescue team quickly approached the endangered vessel amid rough waves and safely transferred all stranded passengers to the rescue ship in batches. Upon arriving at a safe area, the rescuers conducted physical checks on each survivor, provided them with life jackets, safely transported them to shore, and assisted with follow-up resettlement efforts.
