Recently, Binhai New Area and Xiqing District of Tianjin have been designated as bodies for the building of the 2025 national comprehensive disaster reduction demonstration counties according to an announcement by the Office of the National Committee for Disaster Prevention, Reduction and Relief and the Ministry of Emergency Management. The building period will last for 2 years starting from November 2025, marking the official launch of Tianjin's efforts to establish national comprehensive disaster reduction demonstration counties.
Based on local realities, the Bureau of Emergency Management of Tianjing has analyzed and identified the shortcomings and weak links of the bodies, guided them to formulate key task lists, and clarified phased objectives. The building will be promoted in a coordinated manner in terms of organizational management, risk prevention, emergency response, supportive efforts, and social governance as well as 56 specific tasks. Upon meeting the standards, Binhai New Area and Xiqing District will establish a comprehensive, whole-process, and multi-level natural disaster prevention and control system that comprehensively responds to various disasters, effectively covers all links, and coordinates all relevant parties. A new comprehensive disaster reduction model featuring “perceivable risks, direct early warnings, linked rescue efforts, and replicable experience” will be formed, providing the “model of the bodies” for consolidating the foundation of basic-level comprehensive disaster reduction across Tianjin.
Moving forward, the Bureau of Emergency Management of Tianjing will strengthen guidance for the building work. Taking this opportunity to build national comprehensive disaster reduction demonstration counties, it will continuously consolidate the city's foundation for prevention, enhance the effectiveness of reduction, improve the capacity for rescue, and steadily strengthen the foundation of safety and resilience, thereby providing strong support for serving the high-quality economic and social development of Tianjin.
