Four people were reportedly injured in the blast which happened earlier Tuesday and a state of emergency has been declared in the district, said the governor in a statement.
The evacuation included personnel from a military unit, seven villages and 12 summer cottages, he said later on his Telegram channel, adding the evacuees have been provided with all essential supplies, and while most will remain in shelters overnight, some have been taken in by relatives.
The blast occurred when a fire broke out at a military facility, triggering the detonation of ammunition stored in a warehouse, said Russia's Ministry of Defense, adding that the preliminary cause of the fire is a violation of safety requirements when working with explosives.
Vladimir Oblast is located about 200 km east of Moscow and is part of Russia's Central Federal District.
