Twelve people died due to recent tropical cyclones and the southwest monsoon, or habagat, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Thursday.

Of the 12 fatalities, three were reported in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) and three in Northern Mindanao; two in Western Visayas; and one each in Mimaropa (Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan), the Davao Region, Caraga Region, and Metro Manila.

Eight people were reported missing, while another eight were injured due to the weather disturbances.

In addition to the impacts of Severe Tropical Storm Crising and the southwest monsoon, the NDRRMC has included the effects of Tropical Cyclones Dante and Emong—both now within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR)—in its situation report.

As of the latest count, a total of 2,733,646 individuals, or 765,869 families, have been affected by the weather disturbances across all 17 regions nationwide.

Damage to infrastructure has reached P3.7 billion, while agricultural losses are estimated at P366.3 million.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), Emong intensified into a severe tropical storm at 2 a.m. on Thursday, prompting the issuance of Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 3 over three areas.
