JAKARTA, May 20 (Xinhua) -- Rescuers recovered three more bodies on Tuesday after flash floods and landslides struck Indonesia's West Papua province last week, bringing the death toll to nine, with 11 people still missing, a senior rescue official said.
"Today, three bodies were evacuated, raising the total casualties to nine. The search and rescue operation is now focused on locating the 11 missing individuals," Yefri Sabaruddin, head of the West Papua Search and Rescue Office, told Xinhua.
According to Sabaruddin, heavy rains triggered the flash floods and landslides in Gunung Arfak Regency on Thursday night, but severely limited communication access delayed the relay of information to rescuers.
