On November 17, 2025, the 21-day Seminar on Natural Disaster Theory and Prevention and Mitigation Technology for Mauritius for Mauritius concluded successfully in Beijing. The International Exchange and Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Emergency Management hosted a closing ceremony, where completion certificates were awarded to 22 participants from Mauritius.

An leading official of the Center in her concluding remarks stated that the Center is ready to work with Mauritian counterparts to uphold the vision of building a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind. Guided by the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the Global Development Initiative (GDI), the Global Security Initiative (GSI), and the Global Civilization Initiative (GCI), the two sides will continue to deepen the BRI international cooperation mechanism for natural disaster prevention and emergency management. Efforts will be made to establish a regular exchange platform, strengthen policy dialogue and technical collaboration, and jointly explore the development of bilateral, multilateral, and regional risk prevention and control models, so as to promote development through security and build consensus through cooperation. Meanwhile, it is hoped that after returning to Mauritius, the participants will serve as bridges and bonds to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation and exchanges between Mauritius and China in natural disaster prevention and other areas of emergency management.

Kayelash LUTTOO, Assistant Superintendent of Police of the Mauritius Police Force, noted that he had personally witnessed China's remarkable achievements in disaster prevention and reduction technologies during the workshop, particularly the extensive application of cutting-edge technologies such as satellite communications, artificial intelligence interaction, and robotics in fire and emergency rescue. He expressed anticipation for further exchanges with China on innovative achievements in information technology and other fields to continuously improve Mauritius capabilities in natural disaster early warning and response.

Through a combination of classroom teaching, case studies, and field visits, the Seminar systematically presented China's advanced experience in natural disaster prevention, helping participants fully master relevant technologies and effectively enhance their disaster prevention capabilities. The successful holding of the Seminar not only provided Mauritius with referenceable technical experience for optimizing its natural disaster prevention work but also laid a solid foundation for further deepening international cooperation in emergency management between China and Mauritius and building a safe and resilient development environment.
