
The Capacity Building Seminar on Work Safety for BRICS Countries and the Seminar on Emergency Medical Rescue Materials Management for Belt and Road Countries were jointly launched in Beijing on July 8, 2025.
The event was sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of China and organized by the International Cooperation and Exchange Center (IECC) of the Ministry of Emergency Management (MEM) of China. 60 participants from 14 countries including Bulgaria, Chile, Gambia, Georgia, Grenada, Indonesia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Suriname, Uruguay, and Uzbekistan attended the activity.
Yin Mingyu, Deputy Director General of IECC delivered a speech at the opening ceremony and extended her warm welcome to all participants from various countries. She pointed out in the speech that the BRICS cooperation mechanism has continuously grown and developed since its establishment in 2006. Some more new members, such as Indonesia, joined the mechanism in 2025. And a comprehensive cooperation framework has established in areas such as safety, technology, and emergency response. The Belt and Road Initiative has extended from the Eurasian continent to Africa and Latin America since its implementation, becoming the world's largest international cooperation platform.
Deepening international cooperation in the fields of work safety and emergency medicine is of great significance in enhancing risk management capabilities of various countries and safeguarding the safety of people's lives and property. China has accumulated rich practical experience in these areas and we look forward to making in-depth exchanges with you all. We will share our advanced concepts and technical achievements in safety management, disaster response and emergency medical rescue. China hopes to improve the level of emergency management together with all countries concerned.
A participant from Uzbekistan said that the seminar has provided a platform to share knowledge and experience among various countries. Uzbekistan takes work safety seriously and hopes to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China and acquire valuable experience. A participant from Georgia said he was very honored to be able to participate in the activity. He hoped to gain more valuable experience of China in managing emergency rescue materials and medical assistance and help improve the country's standard of emergency medical management.
Both seminars will last for 14 days. IECC will invite experts from the Mine Rescue Center of MEM, China Academy of Work Safety Science and Technology and the Emergency General Hospital to offer classroom lectures, discussions and exchanges for the seminars. Participants will also be ranged to make on-site investigations in Xi'an and Lanzhou. The seminars are not only important practice of international cooperation, but also professional platforms for countries involved to learn from each other, share experiences, and pursue common development. Such activity can help promote the sharing of experience and improvement of capabilities in the fields of work safety and emergency medical rescue among different countries and contribute to building a globally safe community.
